01/11/2022: Kick-off Meeting for Joint Research and Long-term Collaboration with STT Migas University (Indonesia)

Hanoi, November 01st, 2022: The Kick-off Meeting  for joint research and long-term collaboration between the Geological Engineering Department (STT Migas University, Balikpapan city, Indonesia) and SOLEN has been started online at 18:00 (Hanoi time).

• Time: 18:00 – 20:00 (Hanoi time), November 01st, 2022
• Location: Online from both sides in Balikpapan city (Indonesia) and Hanoi capital (Vietnam)

The collaboration has been initiated based on the relationship between a faculty member of the Geological Engineering Department (STT Migas, http://sttmigas.ac.id/) and SOLEN’s personnel obtained when they were studying in the University of Philippine – Diliman (UPD, https://upd.edu.ph/), Quezon City, Philippines in the years of 2010 – 2012. They are Alumni of the ASEAN University Network/Southeast Asia Engineering Education Development Network (AUN/SEED-Net) of Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)(https://seed-net.org/).

STT Migas is a university in oil and gas technology in the the “Oil City” namely Balikpapan where is expected to be the home of the new Capital of Indonesia. STT Migas has strength in education in oil and gas mining sector, recently they are seeing the emerging environmental issues caused by the mining activities. Therefore, they are putting at their best effort to bring knowledge and experiences in environmental management and pollution control in this field to deal with the emerging issues. SOLEN is expertizing in environmental field and trying to expand their knowledge and experiences in industrial sectors, especially in oil and gas sector. The collaboration of STT Migas and SOLEN is expected to create good chances for specialists, researchers and students in Indonesia and Vietnam to dig deeply into the finding of sustainable solutions for pollution control and environment management of oil and gas mining industry.

During the Kick-off meeting, the both sides are expressing a strong belief for the fruitful collaboration and committed for the long-term partnership in signify their role within interdisciplinary-environmental field. The both sides are looking forward to start the first activity by sending intern(s) from SOLEN (Vietnam) to STT Migas (Indonesia) under the joint-research activity from the last quarter of 2022.
