Hanoi, May 9, 2025 – At the Northern preliminary round of Startup Wheel 2025, held at the NIC Building in Hanoi, SOLEN Environmental Solutions Joint Stock Company introduced an outstanding and innovative model: a plastic packaging waste collection system for the production of Mozowood composite lumber.
The model addresses a major environmental challenge in Vietnam – soft plastic packaging waste, which has low recycling value and is rarely collected. SOLEN proposes a specialized collection system combined with a closed-loop recycling process to convert this waste into Mozowood – a unique composite wood product made entirely from 100% recycled plastic.
Key highlights of the model include:

Increasing the collection and recycling rate of soft plastic packaging, thereby reducing landfill pressure.

Developing high-value, environmentally friendly products.

Mozowood is water-resistant, termite-proof, UV-resistant, has good adhesion properties, and is suitable for outdoor use.

Conserving forest resources: each ton of Mozowood helps reduce the consumption of up to 20 tons of virgin wood.
SOLEN also showcased the design of the Plasback bin – a dual-sided waste bin for soft plastic separation – to enhance source-segregated collection efficiency. The Mozowood production line is currently operational in Taiwan, and SOLEN is actively working on technology transfer to Vietnam.
SOLEN’s presence at Startup Wheel 2025 not only reflects a spirit of innovative entrepreneurship but also marks a practical step toward promoting the circular economy and sustainable development in Vietnam.
