The Kyoto University ASEAN Center opened in Bangkok in June 2014 to support regional research, education, and international collaborations.
By effectively integrating various existing research and educational activities and networks in the ASEAN region, as well as by expanding collaborative activities with ASEAN universities and research institutions, the Kyoto University ASEAN Center aims to accelerate the promotion of research, education and international contributions that lead to the demonstration and development of potential in the region.
SOLEN is actively participating in similar activities and had a meeting with The Kyoto University ASEAN Center from 11:30 to 12:30, May 30, 2023 (Hanoi time);
Content: Introduce the two parties and seek cooperation opportunities between the two parties.
Participants from SOLEN: Mr. Nguyen Duy Hung (Director); Dr. Moe Thazin Shwe (Associate); Mr. Kukuh Jalu Waskita (Associate); Chu Thi Thuc Trinh (Consultant); Dang Tra My (Consultant); with three interns.
Participants from Kyoto University: Prof. Dr. Eiji Nawata (Director of the ASEAN Center), Dr. Taro Sonobe (Research Administrator, ASEAN Center), and Ms. Chisato Saito (Research Administrator, ASEAN Center).
The exchange went well, with introductory presentations from both sides and discussions on potential cooperation and plans for the next phase. In the context of the need for linkages between academic institutions and entities from the industrial and private sectors to promote the adoption and development of laboratory-scale studies or call for more practical solutions to today’s pressing environmental problems, the cooperation between SOLEN and the ASEAN center (Kyoto University, Japan) will promise a lot of potential and contributions in the future.
