Following the success of the first phase in 2023, Balikpapan School of Petroleum Technology STT – Migas (Balikpapan City, Indonesia) and SOLEN Environmental Solutions JSC. (Hanoi Capital, Viet Nam) are opening The SOLEN – STT Migas Joint Research Program 2024.
The SOLEN – STT Migas Joint Research Program is part of the SOLEN Internation Project Collaboration (IPC) and the realization of the MOU between SOLEN JSC. (Vietnam) and STT Migas (Indonesia). The main objectives of the joint research program are:
(1) To do research under the supervision of experts from SOLEN and STT Migas
(2) To conduct a site survey in Indonesia and Vietnam with support from SOLEN and STT Migas
(3) To connect and continuously work with/for the organizers in future projects
Potential research topics
Under this program, we look for researchers from all over the world annually with the suitability and study ambition to participate with us with potential research topics (but not limited):
A. Biofuel alternative with the scope:
– Suggesting any feasible alternative resources
– Have a positive environmental impact, such as a waste reduction scheme or lowering the carbon footprint
– Have value toward the local community
– Supporting the existing relevant environmental policies
B. Study on the longshore current to map potential energy for power generation at Balikpapan Bay: Using any applicable modeling approach

11 – 15 Mar: Candidate interview
18 – 28 Mar: Technical and financial proposal preparation
29 Mar: Final proposal submission
1 – 21 Apr: Preparation works for the research activity
22 Apr – 30 Jun: Research work
1 Jul – 30 Sep: Research analysis and reporting
7 – 11 Oct: Final report discussion and presentation
15 Oct: Final report submission
16 Oct – 30 Nov: Paper writing
