Plasback – Project to recycle soft plastic packaging into Mozowood plastic wood

The scientific and technological revolution of the mid-20th century brought humanity many valuable new products, including plastic. Plastic has rapidly developed in all areas of life. However, the excessive use of plastic and not accompanied by collection, recycling, and reuse has caused plastic waste to spread into the environment, causing “white pollution“. When plastic bags are used as packaging, even if they are collected and buried, the plastic bags still exist for hundreds of years in the soil, causing toxicity to the soil and negatively affecting the natural environment and humanity. Plastic bags also clog sewers and ditches, causing wastewater to stagnate and become flooded, creating many disease-causing bacteria. In developing countries, especially in Vietnam, plastic waste is a matter of concern, of which the majority of contribution comes from flexible plastic packaging because its economic value is not high compared to with other plastics.

3. Solution

“Plasback – Project to recycle soft plastic packaging into Mozowood” was implemented to build a complete collection model specifically for soft plastic packaging.

Highlights of the Solution include:

• Place Plasback trash bins: only collect soft plastic packaging in project implementation areas (residential areas, schools, offices, etc.);
• Establish a complete collection and transportation model;
• Close the cycle of soft plastic packaging by recycling it into Mozowood (100% from plastic waste).
