UPDATES ON NATIONAL TECHNICAL REGULATIONS ON THE ENVIROMENT

Looking up and researching technical regulations as well as standards in the environmental field is very important for practitioners in this field as well as the general public. However, the legal framework on the environment in Vietnam is not fixed but always changing. In recent years, the QCVN system (National Technical Regulation system) has been continuously updated and improved through the issuance of a series of new regulations, while simultaneously replacing or amending previous old provisions. In order to contribute to supporting readers in searching for and updating regulations in the environmental field. Thereby, helping readers have an overview of the system of environment-related technical regulations currently applicable in Vietnam.

National Technical Regulations (abbreviated as QCVN) are regulations that stipulate the mandatory limits of technical characteristics and management requirements that products, goods, services, processes, the environment, and other socio-economic activities must comply with to ensure safety, hygiene, health, consumer rights, community well-being, and environmental protection.

In the environmental sector, QCVNs are promulgated to set allowable limits for environmental parameters and related management requirements, serving as a basis for pollution control, compliance assessment, and the protection of human health and ecosystems. QCVNs are developed across various areas, including wastewater, emissions, soil quality, surface water, groundwater, noise, and solid waste.
