EI Nino Phenomenon – Causes and Consequences

El nino

What is the El Nino phenomenon?

“El Nino” (meaning child of God in Spanish, also known as the baby boy) is the word used to refer to the unusual warming phenomenon of surface ocean water in the central equatorial region. Central and Eastern Pacific

What is the cause of the El Nino phenomenon?

The wind is weak

In a normal state, equatorial winds blow strongly from East to West, pushing warm seawater from the equatorial region to the Western Pacific Ocean, leaving cold seawater rising from the East’s seabed. When the equatorial wind weakens or blows in the opposite direction, warm sea water will flow back into the Eastern Pacific Ocean, causing a warming of surface seawater in this area.

Earth’s rotation

The change in Land reading speed over a short period of time is inversely linked to the change in sea surface temperature in the eastern Pacific Ocean, that is, the Earth’s speed accelerates over a short period of time, the temperature of Sea surface levels in the eastern equatorial Pacific Ocean dropped; On the contrary, the Earth’s rotation speed decreases slowly, and the sea surface temperature in the eastern equatorial Pacific Ocean increases. This clearly shows that the slow decrease in Earth’s rotation is likely the weak cause of the El Nino phenomenon.

How does El Nino affect the weather?

1. Changes in wind patterns: El Nino causes a change in wind patterns over the Atlantic Ocean. Winds shift and decrease more strongly in the Southeast Pacific region, affecting air circulation and forming frequent lows and highs. This could lead to changing rainfall and drought patterns across regions such as Asia, Africa, and the Americas.

2. Increased sea surface temperature: El Nino increases sea surface temperature in the Southeast Pacific region. This increase in temperature can cause changes in temperature patterns and affect cloud and precipitation patterns. Higher sea surface temperatures can create hotter and drier climates in some areas.

3. Impact on the global weather system: El Nino can create unusual climate conditions and affect the global weather system. It could cause stronger storms or fewer storms in some areas.

4. Effects on the dry and rainy seasons: El Nino can cause changes in the dry and rainy seasons in many areas.

The consequences come from El Nino

The harmful effects of the El Nino phenomenon are huge and complex, causing storms, floods, droughts, heat, and forest fires in many areas of the world. This phenomenon also affects agricultural productivity, fisheries, and human health and security. Some of the hardest-hit regions are Southeast Asia, South America, Africa and Australia.
