Introduction
The short course “Views and Values of Nature” is a new and useful Environmental educational program that combines learning and practicing of Environmental knowledge, created and implemented by SOLEN Environmental Solutions Joint Stock Company.
The program was implemented for the first time in September 2023, with certain successful results. In the following years, the Program will continue to be implemented as an annual project bringing economic, social values and actively contribute to improving environmental understanding for the community, as well as contribute to specific actions to protect the Environment and the Ecosystem in Vietnam.

“Views and Values of Nature”
Lecture name: Views and Values of Nature
Location: Online via Microsoft Teams/Zoom; offline at SOLEN office – 136 Hang Bac, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi, Vietnam.
Subject field, Keywords: Environment, science, policy, ethics
Recommended Qualifications/ Knowledge: The content is structured for students who are interested in the interrelations between environment, society and cultures.
Lecture overview: Alongside knowledge from natural sciences, sociocultural and ethical analysis is essential to understand the relationships between the environment and society. This lecture aims at learning the fundamentals of sustainability from an interdisciplinary perspective.

- Sciences: Biodiversity loss, climate change and pandemics (IPCC & IPBES)
- Environmental ethics
- Sustainability and transformative change: What to sustain, what to change?
- Values of Nature
- Views of Nature: What does “nature” mean in different cultures and languages?

- Resources: Ecological nationalism and eco-orientalism

Lecture objective
Through this course, students are expected to:
- Get an overview of different views regarding sustainability and environmental ethics;
- Understand the political and ethical aspects underlying the relationship between societies, cultures, and the environment;
- Critically analyse sources by understanding the working processes of science-policy interfaces on environmental issues such as biodiversity loss and climate change.
Skills:
- To critically assess sources;
- To apply critical thinking to political and ethical aspects regarding the relation between environment, culture and society;
- To be able to engage in interdisciplinary discussions with diverse stakeholders.
Teaching Methods: The course will be based on PowerPoint, videos and the board. In-class group work will be conducted. Pre-class Study Load [preparation & review] None. Method of Evaluation: Attendance and participation: 60%; Group work: 40%.

2. Tree donation
Donating and Planting trees to protect the Environment
This activity is within the framework of The short course “Views and Values of Nature” conducted by SOLEN Environmental Solutions Joint Stock Company. With the desire to green Vietnam, within the framework of this Project, we call on the community to donate trees for each eco-tour, thereby planting a large number of trees at each location in the tour.
This is truly a useful activity and brings great ecological and environmental value in Vietnam. Those who participate in donating can directly participate in the eco-tour within the framework of the program to plant trees themselves, or just donate trees and we will help you plant them.
With contributions even as small as 1 – 2 trees, we believe you are contributing to greening our home!
Form of donation: Trees you donate can be sent to us in 02 forms:
- By artifacts: You can directly donate trees by bringing them to the SOLEN headquarters, address: 136 Hang Bac – Hoan Kiem – Hanoi;
- By money: Trees you want to plant will be sent to us in the form of cash/bank transfer equal to the tree purchase cost. Prices are quoted directly from the Management Board of the location carrying out the Eco-tour. This price includes the price of the tree and the cost of transportation. We will publicly disclose tree prices and specific suppliers for each year of operation.
